Jack Harkness' room :: Mid-2005 timewarp AU :: Milliways
Jack's room is mostly basic, it has to be said.
In fairness, he hasn't had much chance to make it his own - it has only been (ahem) somewhere private to go that is not the TARDIS for when he visits Milliways.
And since he is not Bound, for most of the time it stays empty, storing just some clean clothes and basic necessities (well - basic if you're Jack) and not much else.
There is this to be said for it, too:
The door may be locked, but it is not booby-trapped.
Lucky for some.

A few swallows more and he can nearly feel it begin to affect him.
"You might at least tell me what you wish."
His eyes haven't left the assassin, and his voice does not betray weariness.
But there is the fact that he's clutching the rapidly diminishing alcohol the way a child might a favorite doll.
"Mortals do, betimes."
no subject
"Nothing particularly."
Not that Puck could actually help with, at least - the sad reality of Havelock's planned coup d'etat is that the process is slow and rather dull.

Havelock continues searching the remainig drawers in silence, then closes them when it is clear that there is nothing particularly helpful in there.
With a sigh, he sits down on the edge of the abandoned mattress, draws his sword once more, and begins to wipe the blade clean from the dark blood currently staining the metal.
no subject
Apparently, none of the drawers or boxes contained snacks.
His fingers tap absently against the carpeted floor. Outside the door, groans continue to sound, punctuated by the occasional battle cry, explosion, and scream.
The last of these makes Puck twitch.
"'Tis far off," he says in a low voice, the subtext there being FEEL FREE NOT TO GO.
no subject
"But getting nearer, I think."
He does not seem concerned.
Then again, he also didn't when Hellebore was being torn apart in front of them, so perhaps that isn't comforting.

Puck listens out for a moment, head canting to one side, and gives a short nod to confirm Havelock's impression.
"Perhaps the window, then."
Thank whoever that there actually is one.
no subject
(Shh. It's 2005, and thus before the windowless Torchwood Cardiff base came and jossed this bit of millicanon.)
Anyway.
"Perhaps," says Havelock. He looks around, then heads to the light switch, turning it off to plunge the room into shadow before he heads to the window.
Sillouhettes: not clever.

The view is mostly of lawn and lake, with a ribbon of green tree line.
It is all surprisingly vacant.
Puck frowns.
no subject
...The view is entirely wrong, which delays the inevitable awkward quite nicely for the moment.
"Hm."
no subject
One of them being that when he reaches forward to slide the window open, he finds it's stuck.
And, as he applies a smidge more pressure, he lifts the entire window up as if it were a picture in a frame.
no subject
"I feel I should repeat," he says carefully after a moment.
"...Hm."
no subject
It moves, but the view does not.
Cautiously, he slips his fingers under the back of the window and lifts it up.
Behind it there's nothing but wall.
no subject
Havelock turns back to the barricaded door, grim-faced.
Flatly, "Fascinating, what wonders this place holds."
no subject
Even if it means that he and the terrible mortal have effectively trapped themselves in here.
"How dreadfully preposterous."
no subject
"Indeed."
Still, at least the room is secure for the moment.
And they have water.
That's... about as many positives Havelock can find.
no subject
Puck subsides back to his seat against the overturned bed, looking at Havelock with a sigh of dry long-suffering.
no subject
And Puck currently seems set on drinking it instead.
Warily he ventures forward to look through the keyhole - around the upturned bedstead.
(He is blithely ignoring Puck's suffering nature.)

However for now, there is no indication that the creatures know this room is inhabited, and so long as they stay quiet, hopefully that will continue.
"Still there," he says quietly.
no subject
"Are they? I should have thought their hungers slaked enough by now."
no subject
(The other one is still a little stiff from the battle in Ankh-Morpork a few weeks ago, and tonight has not helped in the slightest.)
"Apparently not."
no subject
"If it is no matter to you, sir, I prefer to bide here at least a time." He stretches absently. "Here I may sit in relative comfort, and perhaps come into a plan for escape in the bargain."
no subject
"So long as they don't remember where we went."
They are zombies. WHO KNOWS.
no subject
"They do not seem to me to be overburdened with brains."
