Jack Harkness' room :: Mid-2005 timewarp AU :: Milliways
Jack's room is mostly basic, it has to be said.
In fairness, he hasn't had much chance to make it his own - it has only been (ahem) somewhere private to go that is not the TARDIS for when he visits Milliways.
And since he is not Bound, for most of the time it stays empty, storing just some clean clothes and basic necessities (well - basic if you're Jack) and not much else.
There is this to be said for it, too:
The door may be locked, but it is not booby-trapped.
Lucky for some.

"One of us should stay alert. I may as well have something useful to do."
It's hardly the first time he's gone without sleep.
no subject
"As you please," he says, and yawns again.
"But if I find you sleeping on your feet, I shall braid tangles in your hair."
no subject
"A grave consequence indeed. Go to sleep, Puck."
no subject
But he can't do that right now.
So instead, he shifts slightly on the couch cushions.
After a long period of watchful, listening silence, he lets his eyes close.
But whether he's asleep or not is a question that can only be answered by the extremely discerning.
no subject
But who knows, right now?
There's more than one reason he won't let himself go to sleep here.
Considerately quiet, he slips back into the room they entered through.
no subject
Every now and then he moves, in a twitch or a fidget.
no subject
There's very little that's useful (unless you count one or two questions he may have for Rosemary Palm when or if he returns to the city) but he does find a shirt to switch for his own bloodstained one. It's paler grey than he would normally care for, and the sleeves are a little short, but it will do.
And then he goes to sit against the wall, eyes falling half-closed as he drawns his knees up to his chest, but focusing to avoid dropping into sleep. It's not the same as actually sleeping, but it's something.

... In here, that is. There are doubtless incidents of all disastrous sorts occurring outside, on the lawn or in the halls or downstairs, in the main bar. And with that door always letting people in ...
Puck has slept, or appeared to, in much the same agitated but uninterrupted manner for some hours.
But after a time, when it is fully dark, he wakes with a start and a gasp.

(It's a part of assassin training that never really leaves you - the tendency to gravitate towards the darkest place you can find, and lurk.)
He has found the time to have a shower in the time the Puck has been asleep - one form of technology he is really and willing to fully embrace - but is fully clothed again, and has replaced the various sheathes full of knives about his person too.
no subject
Puck is here.
And from the sound of his breathing, the dreadfulavelock is somewhere in here as well.
"Hullo?" he murmurs, dry and a little hoarse from sleep. (He'd drunk enough to give an average person a decent hangover, but Puck's metabolism is regrettably speedy. This also explains why his stomach is growling.)
no subject
He gets up carefully, and paces around to place himself within Puck's eyeline, out of reach of the couch, and makes his report.
"It's been a few hours, entirely uneventful."
..Briefly.
no subject
Puck sits up, the movement slow but strangely fluid. He yawns away the last of his sleep.
--Hours? Plural?
This whole thing must really be getting to him.

Havelock stretches out, catlike, then inclines his head towards the balcony.
"There's been some movement out there, but no sign of attack; and I have heard nothing from out in the corridors.
no subject
"--Ah," he says.
"Yes. Certes."
Beat. "Have you that weapon about?"
no subject
He reaches onto the seat of a nearby chair to pick up the device, still cautious.
no subject
"Very well. I had wondered."
no subject
It's served him well more than once before, and the more Puck- the more the creature explains himself, perhaps the more clear Havelock's situation will become.
no subject
The arch of his brows seems to say, Yeeees?
no subject
"Wondered what?"
no subject
"It seems our truest ally. I hated to lose sight of't."
no subject
"I would be more sanguine if I knew the thing were reliable."
He dislikes not knowing how something works.
no subject
"'Tis rather a trial to make much test of it."
no subject
"Indeed."
The number of holes in the wall would be progidious even if he only made a conservative test.
"Best to save it for only the most vital of escapes, perhaps."
no subject
He regards the gun in silence a moment. All of a sudden, there doesn't seem to be any good place to move.
"... My name," he begins.
no subject
Without looking, he carefully reaches out and places the gun on a table nearby.
Having weapons to hand is a habit but... not that one.
